FREQUENTLY asked QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY asked QUESTIONS

Do I need to know what my book is about before we start?

No. Most clients arrive with too many ideas, not enough clarity, or a strong conviction about a book that turns out to be the wrong one for where they're headed. That's not a problem – it's exactly what the Breakthru Canvas™ is designed to solve. We don't let anyone write until the strategy is clear. That's why 93% of our clients write and publish within a year.

I'm thinking of writing a book later this year. When should I call you?

Sooner than you think.

We accept a limited number of new clients each month and maintain a active waitlist for strategy engagements. Discovery calls happen on a rolling basis – but your actual start date depends on what's available in our pipeline when you're ready to commit.

If you're planning to start later this year, the right move is to have the discovery call now. That conversation costs you nothing and tells you exactly where you'd fit in our current timeline. Waiting until you're ready to start often means waiting longer than you planned.

Our editorial team is reserved 3-4 months in advance. If you wait until your manuscript is finished to contact us, you may find yourself waiting for a slot rather than moving straight to publication.

The leaders who move fastest through our process are the ones who get into the conversation early – before they think they need to.

I already have a manuscript. Can you work with what I have?

Yes — but we start with strategy, not editing. Before anyone on our team touches your manuscript, we want to understand where you're headed — your vision for the book, your brand, and the business it's meant to support. A manuscript that's well-written for the wrong strategy is still the wrong manuscript.

From there, we conduct a complete manuscript review: a chapter-by-chapter summary document, detailed annotations inside the manuscript itself, and a follow-up call to walk you through our findings. This isn't a line edit. It's our expert opinion on where the manuscript is supporting your vision — and what should be strengthened, added, or removed to make it do the job it needs to do.

Will I actually work with Nicole or will I start with someone else?

Nicole oversees every engagement. Whether she works with you one-on-one depends on the scope and scale of what you're building.

Clients at the highest level — established leaders with significant revenue, major platforms, or complex authority challenges — work directly with Nicole. Other engagements are led by our senior licensed strategists, who operate to the same standard and under Nicole's direct oversight.

If working one-on-one with Nicole is important to you, that's worth discussing on your discovery call. The right match is part of what that conversation is designed to determine.

Are you a hybrid publisher?

No. We're a strategic advisory firm that owns a professional publishing imprint (Niche Press).

Most publishers start with your book idea. We start with your authority gap — and design the book to close it. The publishing is the last step, not the first conversation.

When you work with us, you retain 100% of everything: your rights, your royalties, your files, your printer accounts, your retail accounts, and all finished master files. No ongoing fees, no minimum orders, no revenue share, no strings.

What we're not: a vanity press, a book-in-a-box operation, or a traditional publisher evaluating your idea or your list size. We build authority platforms. The book is one of the assets that comes out of that work.

How long does this process take?

Most clients move from strategy to published book in about 9 to 12 months.

Once a manuscript is complete and ready for proofreading, the publishing process typically takes about 90 days.

Our timelines are reliable because the process is structured and strategic, not open-ended. We begin with the Breakthru Canvas™ to create clarity before writing begins, which keeps the entire journey focused and efficient.

Is this the right fit for where I am?

If you've got real expertise and you're ready for your business, brand, and book to reflect it – yes. Our clients are established experts at an inflection point. They're not building from scratch. They're clarifying, repositioning, and stepping into what's next.

If you're still building foundational expertise, or you're primarily looking for low-cost publishing execution, we're probably not the right fit yet.

If you're not sure, the Authority Gap Assessment takes five minutes and will tell you where you actually stand.

Will my book be in bookstores?

Possibly – and we have the distribution network to make it happen. Your book is automatically listed in the Ingram catalog, which means any bookstore in the world can order it on demand.

Physical placement on retail shelves is a different conversation. Retailers like Barnes & Noble and airport stores want confidence that an author can drive traffic through their doors — which means a substantial platform, an active marketing campaign, and a distribution strategy built around that goal. If you have that, or you're building toward it, we can help you get there.

Most of our clients find their highest ROI comes from strategic distribution – bulk orders for events, speaking engagements, and direct client outreach – rather than retail shelf placement. But we don't take that option off the table.

What does this cost?

Engagements range from $25,000 to $100,000 depending on scope. Most clients find it comparable to combining a year of executive coaching, a high-level mastermind, and a full-service publishing team – under one roof, working toward one outcome. The difference is that this produces a permanent asset your business uses for years.

The entry point is a Breakthru Canvas™ Strategy Consult at $1,500 – which applies toward your full engagement if you move forward within 21 days.
"Nicole is one of the best business strategists I know. She has an amazing ability to ask the right questions that create flashes of deep insight that enables the right plan to grow my business using the RIGHT marketing approach. She is not just an “idea” person, she is someone who can organize and get things done, even the hard things. Nicole’s strong grasp of human behavior and cutting-edge marketing strategies helped me craft a smart and solid plan for effectively positioning, marketing, and blending my two businesses. As a result of my work with Nicole, I published a book I can be proud of – one that is well-executed, nicely marketed, and speaks into my target audience."

"Just a quick update ... I am speaking for a small conference in Ft Wayne on Monday - they are buying 35 books.  I am speaking for the Women in Energy Conference on November 6 and they bought 300.  TrueU buys books for every class I teach now, so that is a few hundred every year. All to say, writing Forces at Work was one of the best decisions I've made and I am so grateful for all of your help along the way."

"It's not like, ‘Here’s how you put 35,000 words into a book.’ It’s everything else like, ‘Should you [even] write 35,000 words?’ Nicole got me thinking about low-ticket offers and medium-ticket offers too. I've only done list building or 'become my client,' nothing in between. To have the full [marketing] system and move people along, you've got to have the in-between."

"I often say that my book-writing experience felt like being on a train, looking out the window at all the mistakes I would have made. And it’s true. I kept thinking, “I would’ve never thought of that,” or “I would’ve completely fumbled that,” or “That would’ve been totally wrong if I’d done it on my own.”

It wasn’t the book I initially wanted to write; it was the book I should write for my audience – while still honoring the original inspiration behind it. And I’m so proud of the result. It became something actionable for me – a real point of leverage in my business, rather than just a fun exercise of getting my thoughts on paper. It's already been two years and I’m still using it as active leverage in my business.
